collected 75 lbs of trash. A lot of small, light pieces of “stuff”. A further 29 lbs was collected at the waterline on Hobo Beach. The volunteer stopped counting disposable lighters and Sharpies at 10+!
For the month of June, 1,100 lbs of trash was collected for the year’s total of 8,015 lbs. More than collected in all of 2016. And ~ same amount as the first six months of 2018.
three sites; Graffiti Bridge, Bartram and Wayside Park. 343 lbs was collected! The third Saturday of 300+ lbs since March 1st.

This will help to reduce dirt/debris, lawn fertilizers and pet waste from entering the Carpenter Creek watershed/Bayou Texar. In a FLDEP report of 2012 there were 1,934 septic systems in the watershed. Pages 20 -22 here. Hopefully there are fewer now.
Park West. Last public area before Ft. Pickens. Seventeen volunteers picked up 117 lbs of trash. Bringing the month’s total to 492 lbs. In this abbreviated collection year we have already surpassed 2016’s total of 5,714 lbs!
