May 9th First small step back into weekly cleanups...
with social distancing 4 volunteers picked up 87 lbs of trash at Chimney Park. Including a shopping cart and the front valence off of a car. At Bay Bluffs 7 volunteers picked up a further 25 lbs. Not bad for first day back - 10 lbs per volunteer
Apr 22nd The 50th Anniversary of Earth Day ...
went by with minor fanfare (obvious reason). The US Post office issued these stamps for the first Earth Day in 1970. Their 2020 offering is in the “Photos 2020”. Leaves something to be desired.
This past week, several volunteers/groups conducted their own pickups around the city of Pensacola/Navarre - 505 lbs

you would think there would be next to no trash along are beaches with them closed.
Not to say anything about finding plastic gloves/masks along Scenic Hwy yesterday. We can’t say its tourists that litter when finding gloves in store parking lots

the trash picked up along Scenic Hwy and it’s parks: 120 Lbs at Chimney and 119 at Bay Bluffs. Good pickup with only 27 volunteers! A further 21 lbs was picked at the new site, Benny Russell Park in north Pace

36 volunteers picked up 256 lbs at Naval Live Oaks and another 30 lbs by 10 people at Bob Sikes.
Seems a Whataburger wrapper is always picked up on a weekly basis! Today there was only one! Of course there are always Walmart bags
Feb 29th On the islands and shoreline of Bayou Texar....
58 volunteers collected a total of 637 lbs - 454 lbs on the shoreline and 183 on the islands.

Monthly total was 3,221 lbs - 5,151 for the year

high schools and Pensacola Christian College gathered a total of 1,039 lbs of trash. 151 lbs at Bartram Park, 225 lbs at Pensacola Visitor Centre and 663 at Graffiti Bridge - wow!
