off 9th Ave. Collected 23 lbs, 19 water bottles, six Polar and five Whataburger cups
Beach Toys and lots & lots of bottle caps (hundreds)!!! Unfortunately in Florida, natural springs supply water for bottle production. Blue Triton Brands is the major bottler. Why use natural spring water? COST!! Coke and Pepsi pay to use city water as a source. Blue Triton recently paid a $115 fee for up to 1.0 million gallons per day from Ginnie Springs! When will the city and county install more water bottle fill stations? (not water fountains!!). Ocean Hour with an Impact 100 grant will be installing 5 stations in the city
At Park West and the Dog Park, 18 volunteers picked up 218 lbs of litter. For the first time, I saw no Polar Ice or Whataburger styrofoam cups!
Three sites on Saturday, Bob Sikes Bridge (N), Bartram & Wayside Parks produced 375 lbs collected by 23 volunteers. Daniel and company picked up 49 lbs on Hwy 90 bridge to Pace on Sunday
Before Amy and helpers did the right thing and collected 9 lbs of solos. The pedestrian walkover at GBHS
Also no water bottle for web manager today! First time!
17 volunteers collected 197 lbs at Chimney Park and 11 picked up 72 lbs at James Morgan Park on the beach
The usual Polar cups and straws at Quietwater Beach - amazing how much “stuff” is gathered from the beach - 103 lbs in 3 x 40 USG and 2 x 13 USG trash bags
Four sites, Veterans/Bayfront Pkwy, Gulf Breeze HS, Graffiti Bridge and Wayside Park saw 55 volunteers pickup 759 lbs of other people’s litter! Especially styrofoam cups/pieces - this means Circle K Polar and Whataburger cups. Also two cell phones
a 20’ drainage pipe
Thanks to the 50 volunteers for picking up 424 lbs of litter at three sites. Chimney Park, Payne Bridge and the area around Gulf Breeze HS
