There were 12 beer cans of various kinds!
Starting with Andy & Tammy - Bruce Beach 86 lbs. Jen & John in Milton for 25 lbs. Mowe Family at Naval Live Oaks collected 10 lbs. Another couple collected 5#’s at the Soundside Foundation Nature Preserve. Mary used our website email to report 4 lbs of food wrappers & paper along Hwy 98 at NLO. Thanks for using the website. If you can’t guess the weight of trash I’ll use the weekly average of 8 lbs per volunteer.

collected 75 lbs of trash. A lot of small, light pieces of “stuff”. A further 29 lbs was collected at the waterline on Hobo Beach. The volunteer stopped counting disposable lighters and Sharpies at 10+!
For the month of June, 1,100 lbs of trash was collected for the year’s total of 8,015 lbs. More than collected in all of 2016. And ~ same amount as the first six months of 2018.

This will help to reduce dirt/debris, lawn fertilizers and pet waste from entering the Carpenter Creek watershed/Bayou Texar. In a FLDEP report of 2012 there were 1,934 septic systems in the watershed. Pages 20 -22 here. Hopefully there are fewer now.
